Smeared with setbacks, lost in fads
I pretend to be happy as I sing
“Run further” I’m urging myself, thoughtlessly, but softly to where the wind is blowing
I glance back at the road which I came from and feel sorry that I have time to spare
Surrounded on all sides
What comes after a war is one game
“There are mountains, valleys, cliffs”
Dust is piling up
In the middle of my endless journey, I stop by at the edge of a town
I throw down my tired legs softly
If I lie down, I’ll end up repeating my shallow sleep
I’ll see that same profile over and over, hear those same words over and over…
“Am I the only one who thinks just living is sad?”
Tobacco smoke floats in the air and disappears into emptiness
On a day where we’re surely still powerless and young
You witness sadness that you didn’t have to see
Now you’re spending your time holding in tears that don’t have to be held in
We’re not strong enough to keep living on just completely truthful things
We don’t have to be strong
Okay?
My lifted-up eyelids see the world in spring
I push through the cherry blossom-coloured wind
On the way to the destination of the far away other side, I wonder if you were in this rapeseed field
I search for the white flapping of a bird in this sky
Surely you’ll be listening carefully to the ground and searching for the black ant’s footsteps at the same time, right?
Tearing off a disguise like a clown’s, standing on a forgotten hill, in the sun
Basking in the light of the moon, taking a deep breath
In a world where there’s no yelling voice or sound of plates breaking
Without sharing warmth, we can keep living
However, just living is not enough for us
The budding ground, the thick trees, the disappearing rainbow, the passing days,
The night sky’s Spica, the four season’s mystery, they taught us who continue searching for the truth
No matter how far we travel, at the start of life
We were lonely babies who cried out to want to live and be loved
Our reason for aiming for somewhere that isn’t here
Is because we have to in order to know that there is no answer anywhere other than in the heart

Notes:
1. The part at “Am I the only one who thinks just living is sad?” is written in a feminine-way of speaking… So chances are, these are the words that Futoshi heard Velonica say and is quoting them (same words over and over….)…. He doesn’t think that himself…. (*cough*dattebayo*cough*) Also, the sentence isn’t like “Am I the only one who thinks that the only thing that is sad is living?”, its more like “Am I the only one who thanks that life is sad when you do nothing but live?” It ties into the part, “Without sharing warmth, we can continue living, but just living isn’t enough for us”
2. Spica is a star.
By the way, don’t use this without crediting and linking to my site. post a link to this page when you use them, ive had like 30+ people take these without asking and use them without crediting me at all. i want people to see other aqua timez translations ive done, to understand the songs, but if they dont know about this site then they can never see them… so please stop taking this without crediting me
and if you are reading this, i recommend you stay around… I have a lot of information on aqua timez and update usually daily.
Thank you so much for translation. I was searching for this. Really thanks.
i made some corrections.
Nice, this song is awesome! and i love the english translation.
Thanks for the corrections. But I’m not English so I couldn’t understand one sentence. “As I glance at the road which I came from with time to spare with all the declining enemies surrounding me
What comes after a war is one game” It is not important if you explain to me in a lot of sentence. I only want to understand. Thanks for everything even if you do not do that.
I changed it a bit.
I’m guessing the sentence means he’s quickly looking back at the way he came after arriving earlier then expected, seeing all his enemies getting smaller
then the other line implies that it was a war, probably some metaphor. “one game” is in english, so I can’t really change it
I don’t know… what do you mean exactly?
Nevermind that comment, I fixed one small mistake.
Thanks for the explanation. I’ve understood now.
U might wanna fix rape blossoms into red blossoms.
P.S. any idea on the black ant’s footstep meaning?
“nanohana” means rape blossom and is this flower http://images.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=%E8%8F%9C%E3%81%AE%E8%8A%B1+&btnG=Search+Images
and i have no idea but that’s definitely what the lyrics say
I wonder what Velonica really means? or is it just the name Veronica?
it’s veronica.
Hey i just wanted to let u know that i have linked your site and used your lyrics for the bleach wikia website!
thanks a ton!^^
I got the link to your site from TheLegendaryRedHair’s youtube channel. I’m glad I found this site ^^ You have awesome collection of translation. I do wish I understand Japanese. For some reason Japanese band could write the most beautiful and meaningful song compare to the English ones. I’m glad that I decided to listen to the songs despite the language barrier xD
Thanks for linking to my site, commenting, and reading the translations. i appreciate it
Wow, I’ve been looking for this forever! Thanks a lot for translating it! I just might add this to a fanfic I’m writing, I’ll make sure to add the adress to your website if I do ^^
Arigatooooooooooooo
I love aqua times…
Thanks
thanks you so much. i been wanting to learn what the song actually meant. thank so much for takaking the time out to translate.
what does veronica means is there like a meaning? or…
it’s a name…
‘Velonica’, by the by, considering so many have asked, was a loan-homophone for ‘Veronica’, considering no Anglo-saxon ‘l’ sounds specifically exist in Japanese. R’s and L’s sound roughly similar, and when terms have breached the Eastern-Western border, often results in L’s being rounded off into R’s, ahahaha.
Er, though the significance of the name would be in tribute to Pauol Coelho’s ‘Veronika Decides to Die”, which incidentally, AT was referencing throughout? :’D
Veronika Decides to Die was essentially, a novel describing a young, beautiful woman, of whom led asthetically, a generally ‘perfect’ life, devoid of commonly accepted events or circumstance entailing hardship and toil.
Though, as a result of this, Veronika was thereby simply ‘living just to live’, which AT notes.
Sooo, she decides to take a fistful of sleeping pills, and while she doesn’t suceed in her suicide attempt, and wakes up in a Pysch Ward, allows herself to explore repressed, underdeveloped, or otherwise controversial emotions, actions, and thought-processes under the claim that psychiatric patients aren’t regularly criticized for their unorthodox actions? :3
thank you so much i
ve been searching for the lyrics thanks again.
Thank you for the translation, it’s by far the most accurate I’ve come across, and the side notes really help understand the true meaning! English is my only language, but I love Japanese music and now that I know what this song means I love it sooo much more!!! 😀
I don’t realy get this but it’s kind of dumb
just because you can’t understand doesn’t mean it’s “dumb.” it makes sense to most people
Sankyu…….Arigato………Kansha……
this is so so great!Thank you!
isn’t there like a chorus or something for this song? ’cause i thought i heard a chorus… if there is, then which part is it?
thanks, by the way, for this translation 😀
the lyrics for the chorus change each time. it’s very common for japanese songs to do stuff like that.
thanks for translate
